The wait is over for British shoppers wanting to get their hands on Sonys latest 4K TV. Currys & PC World, have begun selling the Ultra HD TVs, which have four times the resolution of Full HD.
Retailing from £3,999 for the 55' TV and £5,999 for the 65' the new Sony 4K TV is available online now, and in Currys and PC World stores.
Both models use Sony's X-Reality Pro picture engine, which is designed to upscale 1080p content to the maximum 4k display resolution, keeping the picture sharp and maintaining detail.
The TVs also have Motionflow, which designed to reduce the blur and judder of each image, and a Triluminos display, which Sony claims boosts colour and provides a broader colour palette. These picture enhancing features are coupled with Magnetic Fluid speakers, which Sony describes as "thin yet effective loud speakers reproduce high fidelity sound with a wider frequency response".
The new Sony 4K TV also comes equipped with the Sony Entertainment Network from which viewers can stream films fresh from cinema screens, catch up on TV shows via BBC iPlayer and 5 On Demand, and stream other content through Netflix and LoveFilm.
While Sony's TVs are considerably cheaper than the 85in £17,000 LG 84LM960V UHD 4K TV, all the sets share the same problem: there's no 4k content.
Sony has announced an Ultra HD content delivery system, which will be used for customers to get access to films and TV. No details of when it will be available in the UK or pricing have been announced.
