This mouse is also a scanner; install the software, click the Scan button on the left-hand side and it starts capturing whatever's underneath at the time. Once you've finished click Scan again and you can edit or discard the results, save them or turn text on the scanned image into text you can use in programs such as Microsoft Word with the bundled OCR software.
It works surprisingly well; the preview screen initially appears black and then fills up with the scanned image in real time, stitching together any bits that don't immediately line up. Its almost as if youre painting the image on screen as you scan something. The process is pretty quick, although it will obviously take longer to scan larger documents.
Its an accurate, responsive and fairly comfortable mouse, but it isnt a patch on the best ergonomic mice. The IRIScan Mouse is a good product, but the near-identical LG Scanner Mouse LSM-100 is slightly cheaper, making it a better buy.
